Alliance supermarkets operate five stores in the Channel Islands, including three large convenience stores in St Hellier, a forecourt in St Ouen, and a large supermarket in Guernsey. The Guernsey site faced challenges with outdated and unreliable equipment, resulting in high operational costs and alarming energy bills. That’s when Alliance contacted us
What did Pastorfrigor install?
Pastorfrigor provided almost 100m of Genova OV Door cases, consisting of 35 case sections also 44 chest freezers from Fricon. Due to the store's lack of air conditioning and a strong chance of high humidity on the Island we collaborated with our door supplier Cisaplast to install frameless doors with anti-mist heaters inside. Although this increased energy consumption, it was necessary to prevent misted doors. Proud to say this installation is the largest we have ever done for Genova OV with logistical and environmental challenges.
What were the results?
Alliance are thrilled with the outcome, as it has led to significant reductions in both energy bills and service costs. The in-store refrigerated section has undergone a massive improvement, thanks to better lighting, optimised product temperatures, and additional space for merchandising. Andrew Bagot, the Managing Director, is already exploring opportunities to install Genova OV doors in his other stores, recognising the potential benefits they can bring.
